Huntly Writers launched their first anthology Spirit of the Deveron (Blue Salt Publishing) in Banff during Wordfringe 2008. Full of humour, joy and sadness too, it records the thoughts and feelings of the authors who live and work along the Deveron. The collection includes Messenger by Maureen Ross, memorably used as the basis of a dance piece at this year's Aberdeen Arts Carnival. With work ranging from the formal and traditional to wry, humorous post modern experimentation, this is a collection packed full of interest and originality. (Sheila Reid) Now Dead Good Poets welcome some of the contributors to read poetry in English and Doric to an Aberdeen audience for the first time, and the book will be available to purchase at £7.99. There will also be music from the well-known Huntly duo of Keith Cockburn and Pam Johnston. |
